Developing a Robust Tier 1 Blogging Structure

If you are going to develop any form of Link Structure to assist in the promotion of any of your online activities then it is best to build that structure in a manner that will withstand all the knocks and “brickbats” that will come its way.

Launched today is the Simple Leveraging Back to Basics Course where we examine a wide variety of Link Building Strategies that you can pursue.

Video 1 is where we examine the whole Simple Leveraging Methodology and how you can integrate what we call your Tier 1 Blog Structure so that it can achieve the maximum level of support possible and still flexible to withstand all forms of expansion, contraction and general shenanigans.

The video can be found here.

The SL Submitter v1.1 is finally live and kicking serious butt!!!

Our first new Autosubmitter went live yesterday and the initial results are looking fantastic. Will get the videos live as soon as we have finished the voiceovers.

It’s called the SL Submitter v1.1 and it speeds up indexing of web sites in Google and Yahoo etc and in one case one of our testers was getting 12 pages of a brand new dot com site indexed within Google in just over 24 hours. In another he got 9 pages indexed in the same period. In another case one tester saw their Ad Revenue and traffic rocket by 150%. To most onlookers this would be very much a case of “you really do need to get more” but for those of us involved in the commercial side of the Internet, speed of indexing can be the difference between a project being successful or dying on its backside.

So finally, to Andy (my lead programmer) a big big thank you for all your hard work and putting up with me (thoses of you who know me really well will know that I’m a great big softie at heart really) and look I forward to developing further updates and about another 5-6 sister applications.

It’s all a matter of Psychology?

Whaaat? First he tries to sell me a Mega Bookmarking system, now he’s an expert in Psychology? Either he’s just come straight back from the Pub (us folks over here in Ireland do like to have the odd wee trip down to our favourite “imbibing establishment” on a Friday lunchtime) or his wife has put some more out of date luncheon meat in his Sandwiches today and he’s tripping badly!

None of these, dear brothers in the “Fellowship of the Simple Leveragers” none of the above.

I’m here merely again to advise you of two things and to point you in the direction of some cracking Free information.

I have just finished reading some Free Newsletters on Internet Business and Copyrighting put together by John Carlton. They are brilliant and what is particularly brilliant is that the psychology of the marketing tactics he espouses can be put into perfect practice with selling your newly acquired experience, services and tools that you have with Simple Leveraging.

Now what I want you to do is to go to this link (http://SimpleWritingSystem.com/blog/sws-express-intro-lesson2/) , sign up and download the four free SWS Bonus reports. This is not an affiliate link, that’s not the way we operate.

I know I know, “’Er Indoors”, “She who must be obeyed” will be livid again at passing up yet more financial gain in the pursuit of making our membership happy but the family will have to settle again for simple fare this weekend instead of “Filet Mignon” whilst we give you a straight link, no affiliate sign up, no cookies, just a straight simple piece of free advice.

Go to this link ( http://SimpleWritingSystem.com/blog/sws-express-intro-lesson2/ )and sign up, confirm and then download the reports. You’re not then obliged to do anything else. Sure you’ll get emails from him now and then but then he is one of the coolest copyrighting geniuses around so actually that’s no bad thing. Then think about what he says and how this free knowledge is going to help you put into application the next two batches of information I am going to tell you about in our course of “How to make serious cash using Simple Leveraging”.

Now go and do it now whilst I think up a reason how to explain this to “The Boss”.

The Link is again:

Forget about Link Wheels, Build yourself a Link Mountain!

Hi Gang

We have just taken delivery from one our associates an incredible deal for Link Wheels.

The size of the Link Wheel we ordered was for 100 spokes (pretty massive) and it also came with a free shot for the links to the supplier’s autopligg network. Now to be honest, this was very much an addition that was useful for spidering purposes if nothing else.

Pligg, for those who aren’t aware is a nice little application that is effectively an OS equivalent of Digg, i.e. it works very much by way of peer recommendation and votes etc but to be honest has very much been abused over the past 12 months or so and as such the majority of the thousands of Pligg sites there are out there are all virtually now “nofollow” so for SEO purposes it is not that much use but they do add to your IP spread so there is a limited value. In this case we were more interested in the coverage for the client and the spidering so we went ahead.

The Link Wheel, when it arrived, actually comprised 117 spokes instead of the 100 guaranteed and what really made us feel good about this was that when we entered the urls into our Bulk C Class IP checker we found the following results:

Domains Entered 117
Total distinct domains: 117
Unique IPs: 113
Unique Subnets: 108
Domains with Duplicate subnets: 15
Domains with Duplicate IPs: 4

Which I think most folks will agree is pretty damn good for SEO purposes.

Now there are a number of ways of looking at this and I think the best way is as follows and this is the real reason I am writing out to all members about this. Firstly all these sites are based on WPMU which as you all know is the multi user platform for WordPress so is good for Googlebot recognition for starters. When we checked there were some nice PR4 and PR3 domains in there so its going to do some good as well but the real bonus for all of you out there who reckon they can do this sort of thing cheaper is this. Firstly, what you get is a good working list of WPMU sites for future reference which in itself is a result. We managed to compile a list of about 240 WPMU sites recently through a supposedly well known piece of software that is good for checking footprints etc and the results were complete junk.

By junk I mean we managed to find about 25 working sites out of 240 and it took us over 3 hours to check so we wasted all that time.

Here the grunt work is done for you.

The other aspect of this and is the reason that we will continue to use this service for our SEO clients (that’s how much we rate this service) is that on an hourly charge-out basis it’s a complete no-brainer.

The service retails at $90 for a 100 spoke Link Wheel (better that on Warriors? I think not), takes 6 days to deliver and will probably over deliver again. We have managed to negotiate a discount rate for our members of $20 so the cost drops again from $90 to $70 which is even more of a steal and I am sure as our usage of this service grows that we will be able to get an even keener price which of course we will pass on to members as and when this happens.

The other way of looking at this is how can you get this done yourself for the price?

Outsource it?

OK yes but as I said, you have to find the working WPMU (which are also still dofollow) sites first and that as we have shown takes time and effort and that costs.

My recommendation, get in touch and we’ll set up the process for you?

Cheers

Steve

PS more deals on the way, just looking after our members best interests.

PPS No here’s a thought? Take the above and plug it into 382 + Social Bookmark Directories and you have a serious amount of promotion going on, know what I mean? Watch this space for the results and see how it goes ;-)

More success and accolades for SLS Members

With the latest results from the last Google PR update still streaming in it appears the this PR update has been good for quite a few SLS Members with at least one member reporting a PR jump from 0 (yes thats zero) to PR4 for nearly 20 sites that he was exclusively using SLS2010 to promote.

More members are reporting good rises in SERPS and regular appearances on Page 1 in Google for competitive terms.

There are limited places in the first phase of SLS still available, those interested get in touch.

The Anatomy of Linking Part……hmnnnn well think of a big number?

Why am I being so flippant today? I’m not too sure; perhaps it has more to with the fact this it is a Friday and that within a few hours I can stop by at my favourite “Watering Hole” on my way home and generally reconnect with the real world i.e. those who don’t make their living from life in this massive “Goldfish Bowl” we call the Internet?

Perhaps it is also due to the fact that I have spent quite a bit of time this week looking at existing link Building Campaigns from folks who should know better and wonder how they have ended up getting their butts kicked by the “Mighty G”.

Some people really should know better and I know those who are reading this will know better but let me reiterate this message for once and for all. There is effectively no such thing as a bad inbound link. There are good links and there are very good links but effectively there is no such thing as a bad inbound link.

The reason for this? Well one of the things that Google likes to see is a nice spread of inbound linking types as well as sources of IP’s. Hence to take full advantage of this Google is expecting to see direct links, indirect links, redirects, dofollows, nofollows, typos you name it. Why? The answer is simple, Google wants to see an inbound Links landscape that very closely resembles what humans would provide and that includes mistakes.

If it doesn’t see that then look out as your entire approach could be seen as too controlled and manipulative?

Have a great weekend and keep those messages and emails coming in.

See ya soon folks!

Page Rank Update underway (apparently)

It appears that as of the time of the post that Google have either completed or in the final stages of completing another Page Rank Update.

As with all events like this there are winners and losers but all I have to say to anyone is that at the end of the day, Page Rank matters damn all in the universal scheme of things, its SERPS that matter and many’s the time I have seen in the SERPS, medium to high PR sites (PR4+) get their butts whipped (as an american colleague of mine so eloquently puts it) by relatively low PR sites (i.e 1 or above).

Here are a few links to how the update is being received in parts Google Page Rank Update Discussion and more detail about this can be found at this Google Info Blog

The Downside of a Linking Footprint

I recently read an old Blog Post about the subject of Linking Foot Prints and the damage they can cause if a Linking Campaign is not carried out correctly. The real reason for this is whether my inbuilt nagging suspicions that most Automated Link building Systems can actually cause more harm than good is justified or not. If anyone wants to find out more about Link Building Footprints and the upside / downside of these then take a glance at this post. It covers quite a lot about this particular subject, is not necessarily the definitive word on the subject but covers most of the basics of Link Building AND Spamming etc.

So back to my “Bete Noire” about Automated Link Building Systems.

The reason for this being that they are so automated (as the name suggests), almost everything is done for you that it is almost like taking a sledgehammer to crack a nut. The real downside is that when you automate something, it necessarily creates a repetitive system and process to carry out this task and thereby hangs the problem, the very repetitiveness of the process itself. It is this repeated action, the repeated submission process, repeated analysis that causes the potential problem. It is all too easy to reverse engineer.

Now OK most folk would call me a complete conspiracy theorist here but all I can respectfully suggest to most readers here is that if I can come up with the logic of reverse engineering an automated Link Building Process then you can bet that Google, Yahoo/MSN et al with their seemingly endless budgets have whole teams dedicated to unwiring the latest attempts at automating a sneaky way to bypass their systems.

The answer to all of this? Programmable defects, programmable flaws or mistakes to replicate an organic Campaign. Take into consideration the Human element, the ability above all to screw up that makes the Human Race such loveable beings.

The reason behind my thinking in all of this stems from my experiences in another Industry that has also seen its fair share of Automation and “Electrification”, the Rock and Roll Industry. Back in the late 70’s and early 80’s (yes folks I am that old) amongst the vanguard of new technologies taking the Industry by storm were programmable synthesizers and Drum Machines. Now these were all very fine but once you had programmed the machine and pressed the “start” button, off it went and delivered by and large what it was supposed to do, over and over…..and over……and over again almost “ad infinitum”. The trouble with all of this is that all the songs using these techniques started to sound the same, the beats and rhythms were the same and all became very boring until some bright spark (at Yamaha I think if I am correct) came up with the idea of replicating a real Human drummer and replicating the pitfalls that used to come along with them also. OK they left out the downsides in that at least a machine was less likely to sleep with your girlfriend but you get my drift? Basically the concept was (and is correct) that there wasn’t a drummer out there (and never has been) that kept perfect time in a piece of music from start to finish. There was the odd one that came close but never any one that got it totally spot on from start to finish and that was what made the music so real, it was this very human flaw that makes music so listenable and enjoyable. So to replicate this, Programmers now started to introduce the concept of the programmable unpredictable “flam” or grace note to break things up a bit and make machines sound a bit more like humans.

So how does this all tie up with my gripe with Automated Link building Systems? Well it is this constant repetition that gets my goat. It is not a case of repetitive excellence it is more a case of just plain old repetitiveness that makes it so easy to spot and do something about.

Come on guys and gals, if you are going to try and come up with latest and best thing in automated systems then come up with something that replicates the human ability to screw up and make your programmes look like the real thing and include mistakes to make them look like the Campaign was indeed carried out by Humans and not systems.

There, got that off my chest.

Careful Link Building Basics

Anyone that deals with marketing and advertising on the Internet knows that link popularity is one of the main causes for high rankings.  And as we all know, high rankings lead to more traffic, which in turn leads to higher sales.  The biggest problem with doing link exchanges and using programs that automate the process is that you run the risk of gaining bad links on your site.  Bad links lead to reduced link popularity and in turn can eventually lead to being banned on search engines.  Everyone can agree that if you are banned from a large search engine like Google or Yahoo, then your website is in trouble.  I have come across a few places that allow you to grad good reciprocal links from ranking sites.   You want to do more reciprocal linking because it provides an incentive for both sites to keep the links up.

If you already have a large link directory on your site, you might want to think about using the program Arelis.  This gives you the power to control all your links and make sure they are still linking back to you.  It also gives you the control to find more targeted links for your website.  If you want to find more links for your website, then you should check out www.Link2me.com.  This site allows you to search for websites and then the company gets in touch with that website asking for a link exchange with you.  It is very easy and hassle free, which I know will help everyone that is spending 60+ hours on Internet marketing.  Any little bit helps.  This link exchange program is growing and with the more websites that sign up, which is free, the more potential links for the members.  Check it out and increase your link popularity the ethical way!

Is Submitting to Directories a dead and buried practice?

A Lot of Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing Professionals are voicing their opinions and saying than directories are dead. But remember, these are the people that also say that Page Rank is dead, SEO is dead, and the latest this is dead theory.  So is directory link building no longer worthy? well only the Search Engines can tell you for sure.

I believe the real issue with directory links is that only some of them are good and worthy, while some others are junk, being able to tell this difference is the key between loosing your time and having a fruitful link building campaign.  How you can tell if a directory is good enough or that you should pass it.  Here are the 3 main criteria of identifying a good directory from a bad one.

1) The director is listed in the Search Engines and most pages are being crawled.

You can find the directory in the most popular search engines, Google, Yahoo, MSN, and Ask. Also the category pages of the directory are cached on the search engines, if the directory offers detail pages, these should be indeed too.

2) The links are plain text, no redirects or javascript.

Check the source code of the pages of the directory. Look to see if the links are plain a href’s, without the rel=”nofollow” attribute, and no sneaky redirects are present. By validating all these you guarantee that these links are seeing and counted by Search Engines.

3) Doesn’t link to bad neighborhoods.

The directory doesn’t link to questionable websites, specially topics like gambling, casino adult, and illegal content websites. Be very wary about directory that offers sitewide likes to these type of sites.

Hopefully these guidelines will help you do more quality link building campaigns getting links from quality web directories.
